ABC just made two epic announcements that are sure to thrill Marvel fans everywhere.
Peggy Carter’s adventure continues with Agent Carter, Marvel’s Captain America spin-off TV series that was recently greenlit by ABC to hit the small screen.
The show stars Hayley Atwell, who played Peggy Carter in the Captain America feature film, is executive produced by Michele Fazekas & Tara Butters (Reaper), and written by Steve McFeely & Christopher Marcus (Captain America: The First Avenger), along with comic book legend Jeph Loeb.
Hollywood Reporter summarizes the series:
The story is set in 1946 and peace has dealt Peggy Carter a serious blow as she finds herself marginalized when the men return home from fighting abroad. Working for the covert SSR (Strategic Scientific Reserve), Peggy must balance doing administrative work and going on secret missions for Howard Stark all while trying to navigate life as a single woman in America, in the wake of losing the love of her life — Steve Rogers.
The below short film, which inspired Agent Carter, was screened at San Diego Comic-Con and was included in the “Iron Man 3” Blu-ray and DVD, released last September.
Despite lower-than-anticipated ratings, ABC announced that it has also renewed Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., leading fans to expect tie-ins between the two series. Agent Carter currently serves as a mid-season bridge, and will air during the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 2 hiatus.
With four additional series – namely, Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Iron Fist, and Luke Cage – in the pipeline, fans can expect more Marvel in their living rooms.
