Joss Whedon Had this to Say:
“A lot of people, because we called it Age of Ultron, and there was a book Age of Ultron just recently, assumed that was the storyline we’re doing, which is not the case. We’re doing our own version of the origin story of Ultron,” Joss Whedon explained during a recent interview.
Whedon continued, “We’re sort of crafting our own version of it where his origin comes more directly from the Avengers we already know about.”
Avengers 2 Age of Ultron will star Robert Downey, Jr., Scarlett Johansson, Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth, Cobie Smulders, Jeremy Renner, Samuel L. Jackson & James Spader (As the Voice of Ultron). The Avengers: Age of Ultron is directed by Joss Whedon from his screenplay, and is slated to begin production in March 2014 and release on May 1, 2015.
