It seems that Tomb Raider Writers have Hired “I am Number four” Writer MARTI NOXON to Script the Tomb Raider [Reboot]. It comes as no surprise that the film franchise would be rebooted not only because it was about DAM time! but also the video game also just got a fresh reboot / Prequel that takes Lara Croft away from the Double D character that we all know and love and makes her more real struggling to survive but at the same time still kicking ass.
Check out details from Screen Crush:
This news comes from Variety, where Noxon is described as a ‘Buffy the Vampire Slayer’ scribe. Noxon may be best known for her tenure on that show, but she’s also worked on ‘Mad Men,’ and wrote the adaptation of ‘I Am Number Four’ and the remake of ‘Fright Night’ for the big screen. While her movie work isn’t as impressive as her time writing for television, she’s obviously got a lot of talent.
And considering how few movies are made about female protagonists (at least one’s not involving a dystopian future and/or vampires), it’s great to see that the people behind this one thought it was a good idea to also get a female writer on board. Even if the film isn’t great, that’s a smart starting place. Currently the film is in development over at MGM.
