Think your job sucks?
Try being Powerless‘ Emily (Vanessa Hudgens). She’s an insurance adjustor whose firm firm sits squarely inside of the DCU. Her job is to help clean up and help people recover after superheroes and villains do battle with each other. It can’t be fun working the numbers on all the property damage caused by our favorite do-gooders and big baddies. I mean, just look at all the smashing and crashing in just a few minutes in Man of Steel. That alone has to be claims in the billion. BILLIONS!
“No, Gary. The building is no longer stable!”
So Emily and her co-workers (Community‘s Danny Pudi, Alan Tudyk of Firefly fame and Christina Kirk A to Z) have to help put citizens’ lives back together when the fights are over and the sinister are imprisoned. The teaser images show at least one run in with Crimson Fox; who knows what other characters the firm will run into? Probably not Supes himself, the Bat or other headliners of the JLA. But who knows, a crossover helped Supergirl (at least get a new home), so that may be in the cards for Kara Zor-El and/or Barry Allen. And if nothing else, the comedy will show us what it’s like when someone dealing with super-messes gets a case of the Mondays!
How long until we get a Batman impression out of Danny Pudi? How long until Vanessa Hudgens tells off Captain Atom? How long until Alan Tudyk loses his mind from all the mayhem caused in the Powerless world? Only time will tell, but it’s looking good so far Bring on the un-powered heroes who come in when the tights and capes leave!
No word yet on when Powerless will premiere, but the series order is in — stay tuned!
