We have suspected that Mortal Kombat’s star character would be jumping into the fight in NetherRealm’s superhero fighting game, Injustice: Gods Among Us. The face of Scorpion, will soon be joining the likes of Lobo and Batgirl as a DLC character for the game.
As revealed in a new trailer, this iteration of everyone’s favorite ninja is surprisingly more than just a simple copy/paste job. Scorpion has a new look, courtesy of co-publisher at DC Entertainment Jim Lee, that makes him fit more into the superhero universe (your own opinions on how it looks may differ). He also has some new tricks that use Injustice’s mechanics, including his own usable character trait, which looks like a self-immolation move that seems to stun opponents if they’re close enough. For the most part, though, he seems to play similar to his Mortal Kombat version, utilizing a lot of juggles and crazy mixups to overwhelm the opponent, so MK fans shouldn’t be concerned about being disappointed.
Also shown in the trailer is another character tease regarding a superhero that’s been demanded for inclusion since day one. But, you’ll have to watch until the end of the trailer to see who it is. We won’t spoil it for you.
