All Star Wars fans are chopping at the bit for the next movie that is slated for fall 2017. However, with the release and success of Rogue One, we are now getting some backstory to the iconic Star Wars storyline. The Skywalker backstory will be starting with a Han Solo prequel starring Alden Ehrenreich as Solo. Hopefully, that film will be a success which will open the door for more origin stories. One character’s past that we would all love to see is Princess Leia Organa. Carrie Fisher made the role and sadly with her recent passing; has left some huge boots to fill. It may be a very hard job and there will be fans that will judge but there here are a few young actresses who might be able to showcase young Princess Leia.

Maisie Williams: You may know this adorable raven-haired young lady as Arya from Game of Thrones. Williams is set to appear in The Devil and the Deep Blue Sea. Williams stellar resume makes her a great potential as a Young Princess Leia. The strength that she has shown in Game of Thrones will translate well onto the big screen.
Billie Lourd: May have a step up on the other actresses on this list as she is Fisher’s daughter. Let’s consider the obvious that she looks like her mother. Lourd is known for Scream Queens and has also had a cameo appearance in Star Wars: The Force Awakens. The burden of carrying on this iconic heroine may be a bit much for any actress but for that actress to be Fisher’s daughter might be too much but many believe she has her mother’s tenacity and sense of humor and can pull off the role.
Millie Bobby Brown: If you are not aware of this young starlet, then you must not have access to a Netflix account. Brown is the star in Stranger Things and is affectionally known as Eleven. Brown has even stated that she would love to play a young Princess Leia in a prequel. Brown has proven that she can hold her on in an onscreen fight. Which translates to she would do well in a Star Wars movie. Plus, she has the same dark brown eyes and hair as the character and can easily be transformed into Princess Leia.
Keirnan Shipka: Shipka grew up in front of our eyes during the Mad Men’ six seasons. Shipka has proven that she has the ability to deliver quick sharp-tongued dialogue which will be essential to play a young Leia. The young starlet also has the ability to enrich a scene with curiosity and poise. The Princess Leia backstory will be filled with self-defining moments which Shipka handled well in Mad Men and will do the scenes justice as Leia.
Joey King: King gained her start in the kid flick Ramona and Beezus and has stayed in the spotlight since then. She was recently in the sequel to Independence Day and will be starring in the highly anticipated Stargirl. King has some serious talent to watch and can have the potential as a young Princess Leia.
Rowan Blanchard: As a huge Girl Meets World fan, I fully support Blanchard as a young Princess Leia. As a Disney kid, she can already do it all plus she has the action moments from Spy Kids: All the Time in the World in 4D. Blanchard is set to star in the live action adaption of A Wrinkle in Time, which will add to her fantasy credibility. She has such an inner strength that shines strong on screen and will translate well as young Leia.
Mackenzie Foy: Foy is best known for her role as Renesmee (yeah, I hate the name too) from the Twilight Saga. She was ushered into the sci-fi realm at an early age. She also has proven her young talent in Christopher Nolan’s Interstellar. Foy has a steady composure that is also sweet and will suit the younger Leia well.
Maude Apatow: Maude is the oldest daughter of director Judd Apatow and actress Leslie Mann. She has been a presence in film for quite some time now. Her breakout role was Other People which received rave reviews at Sundance. Apatow may not be a huge name but that may be best for the huge role that is Princess Leia.
Sophia Lillis: Lillis may not be known by many but she is well on her way to becoming a fantastic young actress. She has the capability of being stoic which is a major character trait as Leia. She will be starring in the new film adaption of Stephen King’s It as Beverly Marsh. She has features like a young Carrie Fisher and should be considered in the running for the role.
Dov Cameron: If you are not a huge Disney fan you may not know her name. Cameron stars in Disney’s Descendants as Mal the daughter of Maleficent. She has the wit and sassiness that we are sure a Young Leia will portray. Plus, she can play the bad girl so if Leia ever had a rebellious (catch the pun) streak then Cameron can definitely pull it off.
